Want to Volunteer?

There are ALWAYS opportunities for people to become part of the Children’s Ministry Team.  We want children and families to be welcomed into the church body and to encounter the transforming love and grace of Jesus.   This starts with caring classroom leaders committed to building relationships first, demonstrating the way Jesus prioritized and cared for children.  Joining the team investing in children is also an excellent way to become more connected and find belonging within the church body here at WAChurch.

Current Opportunities:

  • Classroom leader (Sundays during service, 1-4 times per month or on an as needed basis):  Classroom leaders work in a class setting with a specific age group, working as a team with other leaders to help create a safe, fun and engaging environment for the kids.  Let us know which ages you would be most comfortable serving:  Infants, 1s/2s, Preschool 3s, Pre-K 4/5s, Kindergarten, 1st/2nd grade, 3rd/4th grade and/or 5th grade.
  • Weekday Prep (weekdays depending on availability): craft prep for Sundays, classroom care, stock supplies, shop for snacks, and/or launder used rags or towels.
  • Sunday Support Crew (Sundays before and during service):  welcome new families, escort new families to classrooms, assist with late check-ins/arrivals and support teachers with needs as they arise during the service
  • Have any hidden talents?  Do you love music? Enjoy playing an instrument? Have skills in the drama department, willing to be a storyteller?  Enjoy creating art with kids or planning scavenger hunts?  Let us know your giftings and as our ministry grows we will imagine the possibilities together!

We WELCOME youth volunteers who are committed to caring for and building relationship with the kids in our ministry!  We ask that youth helpers are at least 4 years older than the age they are working with.  They will be scheduled to serve alongside at least one adult in each room.

Volunteers 18 and over will be background checked.
Email kerif@occ.org for more info on how to get involved.
