If you asked me 10 years ago if I would be working at a church with children I would have said no. But here I am and I love it. I absolutely adore kids and know that they have these amazing futures ahead of them. The compassion, bravery and ingenuity they have astounds me each and every day. Each kiddo has such a spark about them that makes me smile. My job is to help direct them on a path that follows God, but I truly believe parents are their most valuable teachers and we are only here to support their efforts.
I have a business degree from Seattle Pacific University and recently finished my Masters in Teaching from City U.
My three boys are my loves and help teach me patience and many more things I did not even know I needed to learn.
One of my favorite quotes is “I love these little people (children); and it is not a slight thing when they who are so fresh from God love us.” Dickens, The Old Curiosity Shop. For me this bring is down to the point that kids are much better at showing love and compassion and they follow Jesus so simply and don’t get caught up in the guck and it is amazing they love us back.
What I am reading at the moment?
I am trying to catch up on children’s literature. So beyond what I read the boys at night here it goes:
Holes-Louis Sachar--Loved it. I loved the story of determination and friendship and it has a great ending. (2/7/11)
Captain Nobody-almost done, sweet story with great friendships and family dynamics (2/7/11)
Belle Prater's Boy-Ruth White--Next on the list.(1/5/11)
What my boys are reading right now? N.E.R.D.S--they love these books and have read them and now listening to them on CD.
I love books and love watching kids bring books alive, when they dive into a book and are right in there with all the characters taking their place in the pages.
